The Skincare Mistakes We're ALL Making!
Welcome back to all of my lovely readers,
The past couple of weeks have been slightly mental around here and my skin is really paying the price. I have been enjoying life a little too hard lately and have been neglecting my skin regime. I was having a really good patch with my skin for the past few weeks, it has been really clear (lots of scarring) but other than that it has been in really good condition. Of course, I got a little carried away and now were back to square one. Well... not quite square one but you get what I mean.
For those of you who know me already, know that shortly after I started my blog I really started to see such a change in my skin. I really think that there have been a number of reasons why I saw such an improvement but the main reason in my opinion was my consistency. I was being so vigilant with my routine and really listening to my skin, on nights where I was feeling a little bit sensitive I would skip the retinol or when I felt my skin was being dried out from my acne fighting products I would use my best moisturising products or a good mask to give my skin that little bit of life it needed. I recently have been doing a bit of travelling and eating all around me and not being consistent with my routine and it really shows on my skin.
This week I have been trying really hard to take better care of myself and my skin. I know better then anyone that at the end of a long day, all that you want to do is take out your makeup wipes and rub off your makeup, apply your moisturiser and jump into bed. The last thing most of us want to do at the end of a long day is a long winded skin care routine but the only way to see improvement is to be consistent with whatever methods work for you. Whether its the changes you have made to your skin care, your diet or contraceptives whatever works for you and your skin needs consistency to be effective.
This is probably going to be one of the most unpopular things that I will say on my blog especially because out of convenience they are a product that I love to use myself but makeup wipes are not great for your skin. They feel like a great way to remove your makeup but they actually never get all of your makeup off and when you are rubbing them around your face that is actually dragging your skin and causing premature ageing. So if you are suffering with any skin issues, ditch the makeup wipes. Makeup wipes actually have a lot of preservatives added to them to keep them wet so that is also really bad for your skin. Get yourself a nice cleanser instead, cleanser will last you so much longer and be so much better for the health of your skin.
Figuring out how to layer your products is also a huge issue that most people have when applying their skincare products. If you don't layer your products correctly it will actually make some of them redundant. I will be doing a post next week in detail about layering products and how to do it. But for now if you are wondering how to layer your products such as serums, creams, oils, moisturisers and spot treatments just think about it simply; layer your products from lightest to heaviest, always use the lightest products first and follow them with your creams and always put your face oils last. They will lock in all of the moisture in your skin.
Toner is also a really important step that most people ignore. Toner really is your best friend if your having issues with your skin. It ensures that your skin is fully cleansed and removes any last bits of makeup before applying the rest of your skin care it also helps to even out your skin tone which is a godsend for me in the mornings.
I am not by any means an expert but I have just learnt so much from my own doctors and aestheticians that I have seen. I have also done so much research into all of this stuff because truly as you can all probably tell I am so passionate about it. I literally read so much about all of this and I try to have the best experiences and maximum success with my products as possible.
I know I have been teasing in my last few posts about an exciting announcement but I promise I will announce it on Sunday. So if you want to know more about my exciting news check back this Sunday to find out more...
