Get That GLOW

Welcome back lovelies,

So recently I have been experimenting a little bit more on how to get my face to be more illuminated and glowy. Coming into Spring/Summer I think we all want to feel more fresh faced and to look like we have had a full nights sleep and a gallon of water. Unfortunately it is not the reality of most people to be able to have a full nights sleep and lots of water so I have decided lets fake it until we make it.

Firstly, if you can, I would definitely suggest that you opt for some vitamins and supplements. I have been recommended three different supplements from the team at the Skin Nerd to try and help my acne but honestly since starting them, I am seeing so much more of a glow in my skin as well as seeing it clear a lot more. The first supplement that I have been taking is Omega 3-6-9, I have also been taking the Skin Youth Biome and The Skin Accumax. Obviously it is hard to know exactly which one I like the best or which one I feel is working the best as I am taking all of them simultaneously, but one way or another I feel they are working, I even feel as if my hair and nails are benefitting too. I also suffer from psoriasis on my back, neck, scalp, legs, ears and elbows and I am seeing an improvement in that side of things also, which is a massive benefit for me. So if you can get your hands on some great vitamins or supplements they will help to give you that glow from the inside out.

Recently I have made my own little concoction of rosewater and tea tree oil mixed together to make a little facial mist, that I use every morning and at night time. Funnily enough I have actually washed out my old Mac Fix+ Bottle and have put the rose water and tea tree oil into it and I just spray it onto my face after I take off my makeup and gently pat it in. I like this step as it feels very calming on your face. Tea tree oil and rosewater both have anti inflammatory properties so it greatly helps my acne, and scarring while also leaving my face feels refreshing. I put in about 10 drops of tea tree oil and just filled the rest with rose water. I bought the rose water for I think around €1.50 and the tea tree oil for around €3.

I have always been a massive fan of face oils, I know people are really afraid to use them as they hear oil and they feel thats the last thing I want to put on my skin. But fear not, face oil is an amazing way to lock in moisture to your skin, put it on after your moisturiser and it locks in all of the great things that you have put on your face while adding whatever benefits that it has. The one I have been loving for the last few months is the Sunday Riley UFO Ultra Clarifying Face Oil or the Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil. I always feel so hydrated and as if my makeup sits so well after using an oil.

Now onto the fun part, the makeup section. I always like to use an illuminator or an illuminating primer before applying my foundation. Some of my favourites are the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder, this is a really light illuminating base for your skin, it can be used on its own or under foundation. It is not the most impactful option but it gives a nice healthy base. It looks especially great on the days where you just want to apply a little concealer and go.

I also LOVE the By Terry CC Serum in Sunny Flash. It gives you such a nice bronzey glow I sometimes even use it as a liquid bronzer/highlighter. It is very pricey but I really love it and have repurchased it multiple times. Mac strobe cream is always one of my favourites and always remains in my makeup bag Penneys/ Primark also have an amazing dupe for it which is a much cheaper option and works very well too.

A few of the bits that help me to glow.

My favourite glowing goddess foundations have to be the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. I mean it does exactly what it says on the tin, it has a light consistency with medium buildable coverage. I also love the Armani Luminous Silk foundation, that one is very expensive so it is more for special occasions for me. When my skin was good I used to really like the Mac Face and Body foundation, however there is minimal coverage in it so it is not what I am looking for in a foundation now. But if you have great skin and just want a little enhancement, face and body is your best friend. I love the Nars Natural Radiant Longwear foundation, this is one of the foundations that I always go back to. It is a staple for me and I rate it so highly. Obviously everyone who reads my posts often knows that my new favourite foundations is the L'Oreal Infallible 24h Wear foundation, it is buildable in coverage and had the perfect colours to match my skin. It leaves my skin looking fresh and hydrated.

Finally, the next two products have been a constant in my makeup bag since I first bought them because they give my skin a healthy looking glow. The first is the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Glow, I love to dust this all over my face to set my makeup while not giving it a matte powdery finish it gives it a glowing effect. I also love Mac Fix+ to spray my face with and set my makeup. It melts all of your powder with your makeup and just gives your face such a healthy glow. It is my all time favourite setting spray.
